This notice is provided pursuant to Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (the "GDPR"), to Italian Legislative Decree No. 196 of 30 June 2003 (the "Personal Data Protection Code", as amended by Legislative Decree No. 101/2018), and to Order No. 231 of 10 June 2021 of the Italian Data Protection Authority, setting out the "Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools".

The purpose of this Privacy and Cookie Policy is to inform users about how this website is managed with regard to the processing of personal data, in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and with the national and European legislation in force on the protection of personal data and on cookies.

This notice is provided for this website only, and not for any other websites the user may reach through links contained within it, for which the Data Controller bears no responsibility.

3. Categories of Data Processed, Purposes and Legal Basis

3.1 Browsing data

In the course of their normal operation, the computer systems and software procedures used to run this website automatically acquire certain data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols (e.g. IP addresses, browser type, operating system, domain names of the computers used, time of the request, other parameters relating to the user's operating system). This data is used for the sole purpose of obtaining anonymous statistical information on the use of the website and of checking that it functions correctly, and is deleted immediately after processing, save where it may be necessary to establish liability for computer crimes.

Legal basis: the legitimate interest of the Data Controller in ensuring the security and correct functioning of the website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Cookie Policy — Extended Notice

4.1 What cookies are

Cookies are small text strings that the websites visited by a user send to that user's terminal (computer, tablet, smartphone), where they are stored and then sent back to those same websites on the user's next visit. While browsing, users may also receive on their terminal cookies from websites other than the one they are visiting (so-called "third-party" cookies), set directly by the operators of those websites.

4.2 Types of cookies used on this website

• Technical and session cookies: strictly necessary for the correct functioning of the website (for example, to save the state of cookie consent through the consent management tool, or to remember display preferences such as the light or dark theme). Pursuant to Article 122 of the Italian Personal Data Protection Code, these do not require the user's prior consent.
• Analytics and statistical cookies: used to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and on how they visit the website (Google Analytics 4). These are installed only after the user has given explicit consent through the dedicated banner.

4.3 Summary table of cookies and local storage

The last three entries are not cookies but browser local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage): they remain on your device, are never transmitted to any server or third party, and contain no identifier that could be used to recognize you. They are technical tools within the meaning of Article 122 of the Italian Personal Data Protection Code and therefore do not require your prior consent. They are listed here for completeness, as they are everything this website stores on your device besides the cookies listed above.

This is a technical form of storage: the data remains on your device, comes exclusively from this website, contains no information relating to you, is never transmitted to any server and allows no form of profiling. Under Article 122 of the Italian Personal Data Protection Code it therefore does not require your prior consent — but that provision exempts from consent, not from informing you, which is the reason this section exists.

You can remove this copy at any time, in two ways: by clearing your browser's browsing data for this website, or by uninstalling the application from your device's Home screen.

5. Third-Party Services Integrated into the Website

5.1 Google Analytics 4

This website uses Google Analytics 4, a web traffic analysis service provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). The data collected (pages visited, time spent, device used) is processed in aggregate form for statistical purposes. IP addresses are anonymized by default by Google Analytics 4 (IP masking). The service is loaded only after the user has given explicit consent through the cookie banner.

Legal basis: the user's consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Data transfer: data may be transferred to the United States. Google LLC adheres to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF), the adequacy mechanism recognized by the European Commission with its decision of 10 July 2023 (see Section 6 for details). For further information: Google Privacy Policy.

5.2 Social buttons and links (WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Instagram, Telegram, GitHub)

This website contains direct links to the Data Controller's social profiles. These are simple hyperlinks pointing to third-party platforms: clicking the link takes the user outside this website, where the privacy policies of the respective platforms apply. The Data Controller neither receives nor processes any personal data of the user through these simple links, unless a conversation is actually started (for example on WhatsApp or Telegram), in which case the terms of the respective messaging platform apply.

6. Data Retention and Transfers Outside the EU

The statistical data collected through Google Analytics 4 is retained on Google's servers for a maximum period of 14 months (the service's default setting), after which it is deleted or permanently anonymized.

Where personal data is transferred to countries outside the EU/EEA (in particular to the United States) by third-party providers used by this website, such transfer takes place on the basis of an instrument ensuring an adequate level of protection pursuant to Articles 44-46 GDPR, such as the provider's adherence to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF) — recognized as adequate by the European Commission with its decision of 10 July 2023 — or the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

Regulatory update note: the adequacy decision concerning the DPF is the subject of an action pending before the Court of Justice of the European Union. As at the date on which this notice was last updated, the DPF is fully valid and effective; the Data Controller undertakes to monitor any developments and to update this notice should the legal framework governing international data transfers change.

7. Hosting — GitHub Pages

This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service provided by GitHub, Inc. (88 Colin P Kelly Jr St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA), a company controlled by Microsoft Corporation. GitHub's servers technically handle the HTTP requests reaching the website, automatically recording visitors' IP addresses for the purposes of security and infrastructure stability, in line with the standard practice of any web hosting service.

Legal basis: the legitimate interest of the Data Controller in ensuring the availability, performance and security of the website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Data transfer: GitHub, Inc. adheres to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF), the international arrangement recognized as adequate by the European Commission, which ensures compliance with European data protection standards for transfers to the United States. 8. Your Rights (Articles 15-22 GDPR)

Users may at any time exercise the rights provided for by Articles 15 to 22 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, including:

• Right of access (Article 15): to obtain confirmation as to whether processing is taking place and to access your personal data.
• Right to rectification (Article 16): to obtain the correction of inaccurate data or the completion of incomplete data.
• Right to erasure / right to be forgotten (Article 17): to obtain the erasure of your data in the cases provided for by law (for example, data no longer necessary, or withdrawal of consent).
• Right to restriction of processing (Article 18): to obtain the restriction of processing where certain conditions are met (for example, where the accuracy of the data is contested).
• Right to data portability (Article 20): to receive, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, the data provided to the Data Controller on the basis of consent, where technically applicable.
• Right to object (Article 21): to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to processing based on the legitimate interest of the Data Controller.
• Right to withdraw consent: to withdraw at any time a consent previously given (for example, for analytics cookies), without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
• Right not to be subject to automated decision-making (Article 22): this website carries out no automated decision-making and no profiling producing legal effects concerning the user.

Requests are handled free of charge and answered without undue delay and, in any event, at the latest within one month of receipt of the request, as provided for by Article 12 GDPR.

9. Right to Lodge a Complaint

Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, users who consider that the processing of their personal data infringes the GDPR have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali, Piazza Venezia 11, 00187 Rome – www.garanteprivacy.it), or with the supervisory authority of the European Union Member State in which they habitually reside or work, or in which the alleged infringement took place.

10. Minors

This website is not specifically directed at children under the age of 16 and does not knowingly collect personal data of minors without the consent of the person holding parental responsibility. Should the Data Controller become aware of having collected the personal data of a minor without the necessary consent, such information will be deleted promptly.

11. Changes to This Notice

The Data Controller reserves the right to amend this Privacy and Cookie Policy at any time, giving notice to users on this page and, where the changes are substantial, informing users by appropriate means. Please check this page regularly, referring to the last updated date shown at the top of this document.

Processing for a different purpose (Article 13(3) GDPR). Should the Data Controller intend to process the personal data concerning you for a purpose other than the one for which it was obtained — for example, using for a periodic communication the address from which you wrote — you will be informed before such processing begins, at the email address or contact details you used, together with all relevant information about that new purpose and, where required, a request for your consent. The invitation to check this page regularly, set out above, concerns amendments to this notice and does not replace this undertaking.
